Recyled Reading for our Soldiers

All of us have paperbacks we have read and have just placed back on the shelf. Well, now we have something useful for all of us to do with those books that gave us so much pleasure.

Soldiers are serving their country overseas and enjoy receiving our books. It is so easy through Operation Paperback. We provide you the guidelines and methods for sending your books. All you have to do is provide the books, get the box to send the books in, and maybe write the soldier a letter.

Now to answer your questions :

  1. What is the procedure?Click here for an Introduction to Operation Paperback and its Guidelines by the Operation Paperback personnel.

  2. Where do we receive the name and address of a soldier? Click here to email Hulda and Linda who will send you that information.

  3. What follow-up do we do? Click here to email AAG and Operation Paperback to give us the date you sent your package, the name of the person you sent it to, and how many books were sent.

  4. Can we correspond with the soldier after we send the books? Of course you can! The addresses we have go to an entire unit, so you can address your letter to "Any service member."

Isn't this easy? Now, let's look at some of the guidelines.

  1. Click here for an Introductory Letter the soldier will see when he/she opens the package containing books for him/her.

  2. Click here to email Hulda and Linda for a copy the format of printed labels to place inside each book you send.

  3. If you would like the letter forwarded to you as an email attachment in Word or WordPerfect format, just email Hulda and Linda.

Are you sending books and think nobody cares? Well, Chrissy, the wonderful person who heads up Operation Paperback has a message just for Ingo's Angels:

Dear Ingo's Angels,

I would like to take some time and thank you all for your help with Operation Paperback. You have helped make such a difference in the lives of servicemen and women who are deployed far from home. We receive several thank-you's every week from our troops, and each one touches our hearts.

If you would like to read some actual letters, go to our website at Operation Paperback and click on the page "Thanks From The Troops".

In just about a year and a half, Operation Paperback has grown from a small network of family and friends to a large, grasroots group which includes many 'webfriends' like yourselves. In that time we have sent over 14,000 books overseas! You all are a part of that effort, and we here at Operation Paperback want to say thanks from the bottom of our hearts!

Most sincerely,

Chrissy Honeywell
