Thank you for volunteering to be a part of Operation Paperback, which in 1999 has shipped more than 7,000 books to our service members in all parts of the World. This is a year-round project which will continue as long as American Troops are dispatched to serve far from home.
Attach a 1” x 2-5/8” sticker (Avery 8460 or equivalent) to the front of each book. We use 3-1/3” x 4” address labels (Avery 8164). Feel free to use your own return address instead of ours. If you need a copy of the format of a page of labels set up in Microsoft Word or WordPerfect, just email Hulda and Linda
We ship in 10” x 12” x 15” boxes, about 90 cents apiece from the ULine catalog. If you buy them at the office supply store they will cost three times that. However, you can use whatever you wish. We are seeking local box suppliers in order to eliminate the shipping costs, will keep you posted. Each box holds about 60 paperbacks and ships for about $5.50. Ship Book Rate or Parcel Post, whichever is cheaper. As long as the APO address is used, we pay postage only to the port-of-exit in the U.S., not all the way to the foreign country.
Important. Books going to Kuwait or Saudi Arabia must conform to the local restrictions. No bodice-rippers, no nudity -- showing of torso skin from neck to knees -- either on the cover or inside. No political or religious tracts, no material critical of Islam. No magazines with pictures or advertisements.
Ship-To Addresses are in a continual state of flux because military units are coming and going. When you are ready to ship you need to contact Hulda and Linda for addresses which are currently active. This also enables us to distribute the shipments evenly among the various Units.
Please inform us of each shipment made, the date, the number of books, and addressee to whom sent.
